Logbook entry #KW38 Gender diversity training.

As many people know, we changed the name of our company some time ago. For years we were called.garage Berlin. Now we call ourselves the andersberater:innen.

Of course, we chose this name quite deliberately. We even spent several workshops choosing a suitable name for ourselves.
In the end, all employees were allowed to vote on the name in a run-off election.

We have deliberately chosen andersberater:innen because the appreciation of all people is important to us.

We were already aware that we were working with really lovely coaches, but we didn’t expect such a positive response. We were aware, that we might alienate one or two potential customers with the name, At the same time, we hoped that the name would also attract open, lovely people.

This is what happened. We have been able to coach great people.

Not all employees have the same level of knowledge about gender diversity

We were confronted with new challenges.

Over time , we realised that not all employees had the same level of knowledge about gender diversity:was equally high. So we decided without further ado to offer a training course on the topic of”gender diversity”. We were able to get the wonderful expert Katrin Reiner on board.
Together with trans* people, parents and psychotherapistsshe has written a book with suggestions and and support for accompanying transgender and non-binary children and adolescents.binary children and adolescents, written by.

Psychological and emotional stress

A central component of the training programme was dealing with the challenges, that trans, inter and non-binary people face in our society. Katrin Reiner explained the legal framework and the social hurdles, that these people have to overcome. Her portrayal of the psychological and emotional burdens, associated with discrimination and the lack of understanding in society. Case studies and personal stories made it clear, how important it is to show support and solidarity.

It has raised our awareness of the challenges and needs of trans, inter and non-binary people and has given us valuable tools, to act in a more inclusive and supportive way in our professional and private environment.

Everyone in our team was enthusiastic about the presentation and learnt a lot from it. We would like to thank Mrs Reiner very much and can definitely recommend her. So, if you need support for your company or your association and education on the topic of gender diversity.
